When searching for journal articles from Educator's Reference Complete or another database, try the following search terms:

  • Literacy Programs
  • English Education
  • Literacy Instruction
  • Reading Comprehension

It may also be helpful to combine a general search term with a specific search term. For example:

TED-Ed: Lessons Worth Sharing

On TED-Ed you will find video lessons complete with quizzes, handouts, and lesson plans. You can "Flip this Lesson" to create a customized lesson for your students. TED-Ed can also help you create a customized lesson for any video on YouTube. Check the subject guides for selected TED-Ed videos.


SMART Exchange

Sign-up for a free account to find and share SMART board lesson plans and activities. There are activities for grades K-12.

HarperCollins Children's Commoncore

"HarperCollins publishes a wide range of high-quality fiction and nonfiction for all age levels, and our books can be used to support the Common Core State Standards. Our downloadable teaching resources have been prepared by educators and designed specifically to align to the Common Core." (from website)

Although this is an American resource, there are many great book title suggestions relevant for age groups.

If you are looking for resources that incorporate collaborative inquiry or problem based learning, filter your results under TEACHER AND LEARNER STRATEGY FILTERS by INQUIRY AND RESEARCH MODELS or ACTIVITY BASED LEARNING.
