Discussion of Jewish heritage in the context of the Holocaust and anti-semitism can be frightening and uncomfortable, especially for young children and the educators who must introduce this period of history to them. The UCDSB Equity and Inclusion Department has therefore collated a collection of picture books which focus on this topic in a true, but sensitive, manner. Many of the stories provide a historical background and intricate illustrations which makes them suitable for both elementary and secondary students.
Below are the suggested titles in the collection. Each title can be accessed separately from the menu bar and is supported by lesson plans, and other resources.
