Contributions of Canadian Scientists

The following Canadian Scientists are among those who have made significant contributions to the fields under study in this unit:

  • Elizabeth MacGill  "Queen of the Hurricanes", was the world's first woman to earn an aeronautical engineering degree.
  • ​Pierre Coulombe - President of the National Research Council Canada (NRCC) 2005-2010
  • ​Allan Carswell internationally recognized leader in the field of laser radar applications
  • ​Gerhard HerzbergWon the 1971 Nobel Prize in chemistry for using spectroscopy to discover the internal geometry and energy states in simple molecules, and in particular the structure and characteristics of free radicals.
