Contributions of Canadian Scientists

The following Canadian Scientists are among those who have made significant contributions to the fields under study in this unit:

  • Richard E. Taylor - Nobel Prize in Physics 1990
  • Leonard T. Bruton - Designed and developed electronic filters
  • Willard S. Boyle - Nobel Prize in Physics 2009 "for the invention of an imaging semiconductor circuit - the CCD sensor"
  • Martha Salcudean -  Internationally recognized expert in computational fluid dynamics, Canada's first female head of a university engineering department
  • Harriet Brooks - Canada's first female nuclear physicist
  • Louis Slotin - "A young Canadian scientist working on the Manhattan Project gave his life to save his friends when an experiment went wrong."
